Power in your hands was a film created for Serco Cares to emotionally engage frontline FM staff (porters, cleaners, housekeepers) around the impact they can have on the final recovery of a patient.
Results
The film and the surrounding engagement programme led to improvements in service outcomes, staff morale, safety and patient satisfaction.
It was a winner at the Patient Experience Network National Awards and an NHS Staff Award in Scotland.
Dr Steve New of Oxford University’s Said Business School described it as ‘brilliant’ and ‘the most impressive service design exercise for frontline workers I have ever seen’.
Comment from one hospital porter: ‘Makes you think differently about your job, the impact you are having and it makes you kind of proud’.
